The NCCA Executive Council held a regular meeting yesterday, at which the Chairman, Richard Wheeler, due to business and family commitments, sought to end his term of office a little early, ahead of the AGM, which is now scheduled for September, having been delayed by the boundary changes.
Several members have contacted me about the Parliamentary vote on the Privilege Committee report, and I would like to confirm that I did not abstain as has been reported by some people. I was actually on my honeymoon and therefore not present in Parliament at the time of the vote.
On Thursday I visited Launceston for the Mayor Choosing Ceremony, which saw Cllr Helen Bailey unanimously elected as the new Mayor. I am sure Helen is going to be a fantastic Mayor and it was a real pleasure to be at the event.
The first week of May was an extremely challenging time for North Cornwall. The situation in Bodmin and the seriousness of the crime that took place has come as a shock to all of us. I held a briefing call with the Police Commander for East Cornwall and continue to be updated.
This weekend, we will celebrate the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla – a historic moment and a time for the whole of the United Kingdom to come together to mark the occasion.
